Resolved Question: Could you help my to correct my coursework? - grammatical mistakes and sentence structure? - part 3?

Hi:) I am writing my coursework and I need someone to correct my grammatical mistakes and sentence structure. Could you help me? I will be very appreciated if you could help me. Thank you. "Tesco as a business has a number of the different types of resources that it uses to perform efficiently. These resources can be divided in to four different areas: human, physical, technology, and financial. Human resources are the people that work for the organization, e.g. staff, management, etc. Physical resources are the plant and other assets that are used for by the business to generate profit. Employees and their skills are one of the most important resources for Tesco. Each business requires a unique blend of skills to be successfully. Tesco employs more than 380000 people in its businesses around the world. It is essential for Tesco to manage, coach, and develop their workforce as employees play the main role in achieving business’ objectives. Large organisations like Tesco may have hundreds of different teams working across the organisation. Managing and coordination of team resources is essential to met company targets and improve performance. Each employee within the business should have own role and exactly know own duties and responsibilities to operate more efficiently. To improve Tesco’s performance, the management of Tesco should plan their human resources for the future. For example, they can monitor their current employees’ skills and compare them with what will be needed in the near future. If they identify any lack in skills in Tesco, they can provide training to employees to fill them. I believe that it will be beneficial for Tesco as skills development will increase employees’ confidence." more

Resolved Question: Could you help my to correct my coursework? - grammatical mistakes and sentence structure? - part 2?

Hi:) I am writing my coursework and I need someone to correct my grammatical mistakes and sentence structure. Could you help me? I will be very appreciated if you could help me. Thank you. "Tesco may need to train employees if there have been changes in the company’ goals or objectives or an introduction of a new process to make sure that they can operate at the optimum level. Training involves employees being taught new skills or improving skills they already have. Training Tesco’s staff is essential to make sure that its employees have a good qualifications and ability to do their job. Well trained workforce has certain benefits for each business. They should be more motivated, productive and it could have an effect on the business’s performance and profit. Each decision made by Tesco has to be taken into consideration. By managing physical resources effectively, Tesco can improve its performance. For example, when Tesco decides to expand and purchase new land to build their new stores the new localisation of new stores and local infrastructure must be taken into consideration because it will have an effect of Tesco’s profit in the future. Tesco and its management exactly know that new stores have to be located in attractive places to attract customers in order to gain return on their investments. Tesco’s stock needs to be planned and manage carefully. Tesco and is workers should keep stock safe and organised to meet customers demands and to make sure that food will be sold before it will be out of date. By keeping stock at the optimum level it is possible to reduced wastages. Usually if stock is kept long in store or magazines, then a chance that it get stolen or damage is increasing. Tesco needs to be careful about how much they use and try to avoid wasting products and materials to keep their costs as low as it is possible."Thank you:) more

Voting Question: why do companies lie to their shareholders?

like MCI Enron, and many others BT has come with this!! As a someone that knows BT well, i dont believe Mr Ian Livingstones claims that he has reduced staff and balanced his books etc etc. from my sources in the company, i am very very reliably informed that contractors and agency staff have been moved into other operating lines of business, like BT Operate and BT Design, so that agressive managers can focus on getting Full timers out of the company through performance management. If you were to quiz him on the major contracts like the NHS, Reuters the in house TSR programme you will find over 1000 agency and he still has over 5000 people on the skills bench or transition pool with no jobs but still being paid a salary....lies lies and damn .... I truly recommend that this CEO be open and honest in his reporting of the facts. he blamed his boss before him, however he must be reminded that he was the one CFO of the company too, s what he reported at the time was what got BT in trouble!!! why do CEOs and CFOs lie to their shareholders more

Resolved Question: Did Sir Alan get it right this week?

Do you think that Rocky should have been fired from The Apprentice this week? I thought his management skills and business approach was absolutely awful. I understand that he is only 21, but that is not an excuse for poor business decisions. I didn't think James deserved to go, but once he started talking I was hoping he would go too. "I feel hurt." Hurt about what? Instead of talking about the fact that the canapes were cold and of poor quality, he spoke about his feelings. I don't see any winners in this bunch of idiots. The fact that the girls won with that cheap crap is astounding. more

Resolved Question: What jobs have these sort of characteristics?

I am into corporate banking, but according to an investment banker today, the financial sector is going down hill and once it has recovered, they will not be employing as many people as they used to. In order to secure a future career, I would like to know what other jobs possess the following charcterisitics: Is Challenging Problem solving (probably the second most important) Structured but has variation Nothing legal Mentally and intellectually stimulating Personal, mental and skill development Promotional prospects Progress/get promoted via how much you learn and do as opposed to the number of years of experience you have Uses computers Require maths (probably the most important of them all) Problem solving and reasoning Significant contribution – to company and/or to society Allows for integrity - I want to work in a job where I can be honest Professionalism No politics (including office politics, it just renders me from contributing the best I can for the organisation I work for) Allows for communication and teamwork Prioritise on the activities that adds value- little menial tasks Assess you on skills and not on your ability to get to know the top people Isn't too competitive - some are so competitive that people will go through any means (no matter how unethical) to get to the top teaches you how businesses work and what the processes and requirement for success are I don't care how much work it takes to get promoted or how long the hours are, as long as the job is the sort that interests me. I have a degree in Accounting with Management and I am doing a PGDip in Economics with intention of doing a MSc in Economics and Finance. I am also passionate about economics and finance. If there are any jobs in the private sector with these sort of characterisitics and requires those sort of skills set, please state them It's scary to get yourself into a job that doesn't allow you to get promoted, doesn't teach you anything new, doesn't assess you on your skills related to work, have so much politics you just end up getting pushed around, drains you and bores you out of your mind. In such a job, you are nothing more than a robot droning your life away and the only thing that makes you take the job and endure it is because of money and the fear of ending up with nothing if you walk out of the door. I don't want that (and I don't think anyone else would either, but I am determined to do something about it). Don't say go to prospects.ac.uk. I have been on there and apparently corporate banking is the only thing that matches this criteria Any unhelpful comments will get thumbed down CheersThanks..she hulk... but I only want suggestions in the private sector - personal reasons more

My UCAS points will hopefully be 280 so can anybody give me any advice on a good uni that does a good event management course with these points? I've heard Bournemouth is meant to be great!... Resolved Question: Course Concerns Computer Science?

I'm on a "computer science (games programming)" BCs (Hons) course at Kingston University, London which I started in September. The course is clearly well funded, we have a room full of PSP dev kits and some X-Box's. This computer science with games programming course itself is only 1 and 1/2 years old, as is a games technology course at the same university. Only trouble is, I've got almost double the required UCAS points and I've already done plenty of games programming in C++ before I got here - which means assignments are often very easy for me. I guess this is good because at least I know I'll get a good degree at the end of it, but I worry about whether I should of chosen a university higher up the league table. I wouldn't worry about this if it wasn't for the fact that some of the lectures are a bit... rubbish? The games and programming modules are probably well taught (but too easy for me) but some of the others are just weak. I thought, well these modules will change in the second semester - but one of the new modules, in particular one called 'ICT' is about slotting together a computer, most nerds learn to do this at 15! A whole module dedicated to that, and we don't even get to physically put it together we just write the spec. sheet :s - this isn't what I want to do a career in! There's also other modules which I don't like, and most things are assessed as group projects - it feels like I'm having to carry other people. This university doesn't seem to be very well known, I wonder if employers will think less of my degree because of that? So... I'm wondering whether to change from Computer Science (Games Programming) to Games Technology because that focuses more on games and programming modules which I like - although even employers in the highly competitive games industry might prefer people who have the more traditional degree in computer science. I might even change to a university higher up the league table such as City University London if they'll let me in on the second year. It's a shame I didn't know much about universities or league tables before I applied and I would of applied to different universities if I had - lecturers at college should help us with this stuff more. One of the things that most concerns me about Kingston is that at City they do C++ in the first year, where's at Kingston they're only going to do a light brushing of C in the first year, then C++ the next. Is this a sign that Kingston's course isn't as advanced? Still I'd recommend Kingston for most people as it is a nice place, and I'm only in the first year so I can't be sure what to make of it :D Any Advise? ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Here's the course layout for Computer Science (Games Programming) at Kingston: Year 1 Introduction to Computer Games Programming Essentials Systems Analysis and Design 1 Technology and Change Programming Applications Information and Communication Technology Business Organisation and Practice Group Design Workshop 1 Year 2 Information and Project Management Systems Analysis and Design 2 Database Systems Advanced Programming Concepts Design Workshop 2 Operating Systems and Networking Strategy and Intelligent Games Computer Games Development Year 3 Advanced Games Programming Games Production Option modules eg: Mobile Technology; Computer Graphics, Image Processing; Virtual Reality ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Here's the course layout for Games Technology at the same university: Year 1 Introduction to Computer Games Games Fundamentals Programming Essentials Practical Programming Introductory Mathematics Light, sound and motion Fundamentals of Computer Imagery Year 2 Computer Games Development Strategy and Intelligent Games Advanced Programming Concepts Operation Systems and Networking Multimedia Design Computer Generated Imagery and Sound 2 Year 3 Advanced Games Programming Games Production Project Advanced Multimedia Options eg: Virtual Reality; Computer Vision; Computer Animation ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Here's the course layout for Computer Science with Games Programming at City University: Optional modules for computer science with games technology: Game engine architectures The games development process 2-d and 3-d graphics Game physics and sound Scripting NPCs and game AI Programming in C++ Part I: Foundations Programming in Java Software Engineering Systems Architecture Databases Mathematics for Computing Business and Organisations Communication and professional development skills, essential for a successful career in IT, are also covered. Resolved Question: SUB : HR & PERSONNEL MANAGEMENT ?

SUB : HR & PERSONNEL MANAGEMENT NO. – 1 ENRICHING JOBS AT STANDARD DECOY Standard Decoy in Witchell, has been making traditional wooden hunting decoys since 1927. Cyrus Witchell began the business by carving a couple of ducks a day by hand. Demand and competition have long since driven the company to use modern machinery and assembly-line techniques, and they now turn out two hundred ducks daily even on the slowest days. When Steward Alcorn, Cyrus Witchell’s grandson, took over the business, he knew things needed to change. Output had not fallen, and the company was surviving financially despite competition from what he called “plastic ducks” from the Far East. But Alcorn noticed that the productivity per worker had stayed the same for ten years, even during the period since the company had bought the latest equipment. While touring the plant, he noticed many employees yawning, and he found himself doing the same. No one quit. No one complained, They all gave him a smile when he walked by. But no one seemed excited with the work. Alcorn decided to undertake a survey. He appointed a respected worker at each step in the production process to ask each of his or her co-workers questions and to fill in response sheets. One conclusion emerged from the survey : The “fine-tuners”, as Alcorn thought of them, were the most content ones. That is, those who used fine tools and brushes to get the ducks’ heads, expressions, and feathers just right seemed to enjoy their work most. In contrast, the people who planed and cut the wood into blocks, rough – cut the body shapes, spray – painted the body colour, and applied the varnish were all pretty bored. Alcorn had heard about a technique called “job rotation” and decided to try it out. He gave all workers a taste of the “fun” jobs. He asked for volunteers to exchange jobs for one morning a week. The fine-tuners were skeptical, and the other workers were only slightly more enthusiastic. The whole programme turned out to be a disaster. Even with guidance, the planers and the spray – painters could not master the higher – precision techniques, and the fine-tuners seemed to give them only limited assistance. After one trial week, Alcorn gave up. During a lunch break that Friday, Alcorn was wandering outside around the plant bemoaning his failure. Then he noticed one of the rough-cutters, Al Price, whittling at something with an ordinary pocket knife. It turned out to be a block of wood that he had cut incorrectly and normally would have thrown in the scrap heap. But as Price said, “It kind of looked like a duck, in an odd way,” and he had started whittling on it in spare moments. Alcorn liked what he saw and asked Price if he would be willing to sell him the duck when he got through with it. Price looked surprised, but he agreed. The following week, Alcorn noticed that Price had finished the whittling and was getting one of the fine-tuners to help him paint the duck in a way that made it look even odder. When it was finished, Alcorn offered it to one of his regular customers, who took a look at it and said, “You’ve got this hand made ?” and asked if he could order a gross. By the middle of the next month, Alcorn’s “Odd Ducks” programme was in full swing. Workers were still responsible for producing the usual number of conventional ducks, but they were allowed to use company tools and materials any time they wanted to work on their own projects. There were no quotas or expectations for the Odd Ducks. Some employees worked on for weeks. Others collaborated and produced one or two a day. Some wouldn’t sell their ducks but crafted them to practice their skills and brought them home to display on their mantels. Those who would sell them kept half the selling price. That price usually did not amount to more than their regular hourly wage, but no one seemed to care about the precise amount of income. The response to the Odd Duck programme was so great that Alcorn put up a bulletin board he called “Odd Letters, as a place to post appreciative notes from customers. Most of the customers, it seemed, had no interest in hunting but just liked to have the ducks around. And when Alcorn learned that some of his customers were in turn selling the ducks as “Cyrus Witchell’s Olde Time Odd Ducks,” he did not complain. Questions : 1.How did the “Odd Ducks” programme enrich the jobs at Standard Decoy ? 2.What motivated workers to participate in marking the Odd Ducks ?  more

Resolved Question: Personal statement???? how should i end it?

My grandparents are successful entrepreneurs owning a chain of Chinese restaurants and a factory producing soya bean products in Scotland. Therefore from early childhood, I was exposed to a business related environment. I enjoy the many challenges of running a business; however I realised that a business evolves and problems arise through economic cycles. Hence unless I get a good grounding in Business Studies at university I would not be able to meet these challenges. More importantly, at school I enjoy Business studies, Economics and Art which I took for my A-Levels and Mathematics for my AS. I think these subjects’ compliments each other really well and will bring great advantages to my Higher Education in Business. I believe having a good understanding in Economics will be a good foundation for Business, also my interest in Art enables me to be innovative and think ‘outside the box’ which is one of the key elements in Business Studies. A good understanding in Maths will also benefit me from further education in Business as managing finance is a fundamental part in the subject. I took Business Management in standard grade and A-Level; it has always been my strongest subject and the subject which I enjoy the most. So I wish to continue my enthusiasm in the subject at university. I am currently completing the Chartered Institute of Bankers in Scotland (CIOBS) qualification, which is really beneficial to my further studies in business and helped me to understand the workings of the banking industry(I.e. how the market customers, how the banking industry evolved and the financial side of it.) I am fluent in Cantonese and Mandarin which I believe is a great advantage since the Asian market is growing rapidly and by speaking the language and having a good understanding of their cultures will be very valuable for understanding International business. In August 2007, I was presented with the opportunity to work as a full time “Administrative Assistant” for Capital Artists Ltd, a venture division of SCMP group in Hong Kong. The company dealt some of the biggest names in the Hong Kong and International music industry. My main responsibility within the company was to ensure there were no copyright infringements on songs owned by the company. This job opportunity also helped me to improve my communication skills as I had to establish a working relationship with my boss and other employees who were more mature and knowledgeable than me. In addition, provided me with a deeper insight of the music industry – its inner workings and evolving problems. During my work experience I was able to apply my knowledge of Business Studies into real life situations and problems such as strategic planning. Having the position as a House prefect and Art Reputation at school, I’ve learnt the importance responsibility and developed a good communication skill as I was given tasks to fulfil and had to find ways of bonding and taking care of younger students. Being a black belt (1st Dan) in Karate has taught me to be really hard working and ambitious. feedbacks? more

Resolved Question: So why did the chicken cross the road?

* KINDERGARTEN TEACHER: To get to the other side. * PLATO: For the greater good. * ARISTOTLE: It is the nature of chickens to cross roads. * KARL MARX: It was a historical inevitability. * TIMOTHY LEARY: Because that's the only trip the establishment would let it take. * SADDAM HUSSEIN: This was an unprovoked act of rebellion and we were justified in dropping 50 tons of nerve gas on it. * JACK NICHOLSON: 'cause it f___ing wanted to. That's the f___ing reason. * RONALD REAGAN: I forget. * CAPTAIN JAMES T. KIRK: To boldly go where no chicken has gone before. * HIPPOCRATES: Because of an excess of phlegm in its pancreas. * ANDERSEN CONSULTANT: Deregulation of the chicken's side of the road was threatening its dominant market position. The chicken was faced with significant challenges to create and develop the competencies required for the newly competitive market. Andersen Consulting, in a partnering relationship with the client, helped the chicken by rethinking its physical distribution strategy and implementation processes. Using the Poultry Integration Model (PIM), Andersen helped the chicken use its skills, methodologies, knowledge, capital and experiences to align the chicken's people, processes and technology in support of its overall strategy within a Program Management framework. Andersen Consulting convened a diverse cross-spectrum of road analysts and best chickens along with Anderson consultants with deep skills in the transportation industry to engage in a two-day itinerary of meetings in order to leverage their personal knowledge capital, both tacit and explicit, and to enable them to synergize with each other in order to achieve the implicit goals of delivering and successfully architecting and implementing an enterprise-wide value framework across the continuum of poultry cross-median processes. The meeting was held in a park-like setting, enabling and creating an impactful environment which was strategically based, industry-focused, and built upon a consistent, clear, and unified market message and aligned with the chicken's mission, vision, and core values. This was conducive towards the creation of a total business integration solution. Andersen Consulting helped the chicken change to become more successful. * LOUIS FARRAKHAN: The road, you see, represents the black man. The chicken 'crossed' the black man in order to trample him and keep him down. * MARTIN LUTHER KING, JR.: I envision a world where all chickens will be free to cross roads without having their motives being called into question. * MOSES: And God came down from the Heavens, and He said unto the chicken, "Thou shalt cross the road." And the chicken crossed the road, and there was much rejoicing. * FOX MULDER: You saw it cross the road with your own eyes. How many more chickens have to cross the road before you believe it? * RICHARD M. NIXON: The chicken did not cross the road. I repeat, the chicken did NOT cross the road. * MACHIAVELLI: The point is that the chicken crossed the road. Who cares why? The end of crossing the road justifies whatever motive there was. * JERRY SEINFELD: Why does anyone cross a road? I mean, why doesn't anyone ever think to ask, What the heck was this chicken doing walking around all over the place, anyway?" * FREUD: The fact that you are at all concerned that the chicken crossed the road reveals your underlying sexual insecurity. * BILL GATES: I have just released the new Chicken Office 2000, which will not only cross roads, but will lay eggs, file your important documents, and balance your checkbook. * BILL CLINTON: I'm going to say something important. And I'll say it again to make sure you understand. I did not have sexual relations with that chicken. I did not. * GEORGE W. BUSH (2): We don't really care why the chicken crossed the road. We just want to know if the chicken is on our side of the road or not. The chicken is either with us or it is against us. There is no middle ground here. * OLIVER STONE: The question is not, "Why did the chicken cross the road?" Rather, it is, "Who was crossing the road at the same time, whom we overlooked in our haste to observe the chicken crossing?" * DARWIN: Chickens, over great periods of time, have been naturally selected in such a way that they are now genetically disposed to cross roads. * EINSTEIN: Whether the chicken crossed the road or the road moved beneath the chicken depends upon your frame of reference. * BUDDHA: Asking this question denies your own chicken nature. * RALPH WALDO EMERSON: The chicken did not cross the road .. it transcended it. * ERNEST HEMINGWAY: To die. In the rain. * NEW SOUTH AFRICAN POLITICIAN: It is the Apartheid regime which made the chicken cross the road when the chicken did not want to cross the road, the chicken is oppressed and the only way to free the chicken is for the whites to pay restitution for oppressing the chicken and investigate police involvement in the death of chickens. It is racist to imply that chickens are involved in any crimes and corruption. * OLD SOUTH AFRICAN POLITICIAN: It is our belief that chickens should be allowed to cross roads in their own areas with their own roads. If they wish to cross roads in other areas they must carry a pass and will be subject to arrest if they dont. We would like to state categorically that meddling in our affairs by any persons will not be tolerated and we will arrest and detain anybody for a period of 90 days without trail so that these allegations can be investigated. * COSATU: To steal a job from a decent, hardworking, South African. * RAY MACAULEY: Because the chicken was gay! Isn't it obvious? Can't you people see the plain truth in front of your face? The chicken was going to the "other side." That's what "they" call it, "the other side." Yes, my friends, that chicken is gay. And, if you eat that chicken, you will become gay too. I say we boycott all chickens until we sort out this abomination that the liberal media whitewashes with seemingly harmless phrases like "the other side." That chicken should not be free to cross the road. It's as plain and simple as that. * DR SEUSS: Did the chicken cross the road? Did he cross it with a toad? Yes! The chicken crossed the road, but why it crossed, I've not been told! * DR NELSON MANDELA: Never again, will the chicken be questioned for crossing the road. This is an ideal for which I am prepared to die. * GRANDPA SIMPSON: In my day, we didn't ask why the chicken crossed the road. Someone told us that the chicken crossed the road, and that was good enough for us. * BISHOP TUTU: We need a society where people will learn to forgive all the chickens that crossed the road. However, forgiveness will be granted to chickens that convince the nation that their reasons for crossing the road were politically motivated * PAN AFRICAN CONGRESS: The road, you will see, represents the black man. The chicken crossed the "black man" in order to trample him and keep him down. * ROBERT MUGABE: For all of these years the road has been owned by the white farmers, the poor underpriveleged chicken has waited too long for that road to be given to him and now he is crossing it in force with his fellow war veteran chickens. We intend taking over this road and giving it to the roadless chickens so that they can cross it without fear of retribution from Britain who promised money to institute road reform. We will not stop until all roadless chickens have roads to cross and the freedom to cross them. We will also return to the Socialist ideal of a road so that all chickens who live in our country can benefit from the grand ideals which I have decided upon. * ISAAC NEWTON: Any chicken in the universe shall always cross a road perpendicularly to the side of the road, and in an infinitely long straight line at uniform speed, unless the chicken stops due to an unbalanced reactive force in the opposite direction of the chicken's motion * HEISENBERG: No one will ever know for sure whether he actually got to the other side * SNOOPY: It was a dark, stormy night. Somewhere in the rain, a chicken crossed a road * JULIE ANDREWS: Chick, a cheer, a female cheer ... * MOHAMMED ALDOURI (Iraq Ambassador): The chicken did not cross the road. This is a complete fabrication. We don't even have a chicken. * COLONEL SANDERS: I missed one? more

Resolved Question: How do I stand up for myself?

I'm more the kind of a person who doesn't like meaningless gossip, limits his number of friends, doesn't like to argue either. The problem is, I'm a finance and marketing dual major and being a business graduate itself frequently puts me into situations where I'm supposed to defend myself vigorously in front of mean audience. I see girls I know moving up the corporate ladder by selling themselves, I see people becoming successful by being liars and defending their lies as if they're true. When they argue so mean and stoop low, people start believing their lies and I feel just like I'm sinking at the bottom of self-ridicule and frustration at times. At times some trigger event happens that makes my blood boil and taste my anger management skills. I'd like to know how to get the thought out of my mind and how to forget the faces of those nasty men and women whom I see almost everyday. It's not always easy to act unresponsive to intimidation.  more

Resolved Question: Property Management - what skills do i need?

I have a few million coming my way and i would like to set up a property management business. I was just wondering what skills i would need or would be useful? Any monkey with money can buy a dump and get a builder round - surely there must be something else i should need to know? I would also like to rent out the properties, not just sell them all on... Resolved Question: Can you please explain your political views?

I am a socialist because I believe that all citizens should be encouraged to work together so that no one has a joyless life. This means tacking poverty and social disadvantage in pragmatic ways. I also don't like any kind of exploitation of then weak by the strong especially through the use of lies, deception and abuse of power. I am also a liberal because I believe that freedom helps people to be the individuals that they were meant to be. I detest conformity and especially imposed conformity mainly because these things stifle individuality and creativity. I believe strongly in empowerment which means teaching people how to act in their own self-interest and in the interest of others by giving them a wide range of life skills. I believe that something needs to be done to improve the quality of leadership and management in business and in government but I'm not sure how to facilitate this (any ideas?). What is your political position? more

Resolved Question: CIMA or ACCA? I want to focus on preparing accounts, not budgeting / cost control / business planning??

I am a Management Accountant in industry & my role entails cost control, forecasting, ad-hoc financial analysis, month-end reporting / journal uploads, billing, etc. My job involves a great deal of administrative work & I also have to regularly chase / pester managers for various bits of information, which can be very tedious & boring. I would much prefer to work on preparing accounts for external clients, focus more on my technical accounting skills, maybe even specialise in tax or work in practice...but I definitely do not want to do audit - is it possible to work in practice & avoid audit alltogether? Basically, I don't want to work on forecasts/budgets/business planning or do audits but I do want to prepare client accounts & assist with their accounting needs - can anyone advise what type of company I should focus on securing a position with? Also I am studying for the foundation level CIMA certificate but should I swap to ACCA for the professional qualification? Thanks! more

Resolved Question: Will cap on non-EU immigrants to UK make any difference?

In Brown’s press conference today he says that a points system will be imposed on non-EU immigrants so the unskilled can no longer enter, but that immigration from within the EU CANNOT be capped or stopped in any way. So will the new points system do ANY good at all, or be of benefit to the UK? Bearing in mind that in fact currently only 1 in 5 immigrants are non-EU, plus the fact that currently less than 10% of those non-EU people are unskilled & even that 10% have jobs as they’re usually coming in to help relatives with their business i.e. Indian/Chinese restaurants. The VAST majority of non-EUs are highly skilled workers anyway - i.e. USAs in banking/finance, AU/NZ in tourism/leisure management, Indian doctors/nurses, etc. Considering that 4 in 5 are from the EU & this is RISING & WILL get higher as more countries join the EU, plus we CAN’T cap/stop this due to EU law. Will a cap on non-EU immigrants to UK make any difference at all, or is this just lip-service & propaganda? more

Resolved Question: Anyone read this before? Believe in it?

THE MEANING OF WORK If you work for someone, for goodness sake work for them,. If they pay you wages that supply you with your bread and butter and pay for the roof over your head, work for them, speak well of them, think well of them and stand by them and the organisation they have created. Work for them for the whole of the time that they pay you not for as little as you can get away with. Your service to them should be undivided by selfishness and don’t want to do attitude if you don’t want to do what is needed for the organisation you should walk away NOW. Be someone who can be dedicated during their paid hours and put in the extra effort needed to succeed. This is just an ounce of loyalty but it far outweighs the value of any amount of being smart about your “legal position”. If you must criticise and condemn that to which hearts and souls have been committed resign your position and then you can condemn to your hearts content. Whilst you are part of that organisation it should be part of you and so long as you are part do not condemn it. Because by doing - you will not damage the organisation - but by condemning that to which you are part you condemn yourself. Never forget “I forgot” really means “I don’t care” and that will not do in any field. A reason why should not be needed but if you really want one. The people who started the organisation took a massive risk, they risked their income, their lifestyle, their status, all reward was laid aside. Because, they wanted to create an organisation which would bring work and reward to others. They knew the risks they took were great but if no one ever took a risk the whole of society would stagnate. They knew they would come across obstacles but they also knew that with the 100% commitment of people they paid they could work over, under or around the obstacles and reach there goals. They also knew that without that 100% support of those people; who would expect to be paid 100% of there wages even if they put in little effort, they would not succeed. The workers would lose out, of course, if the organisation failed. They would lose their jobs and have to suffer the indignity of signing on. Those employees would surely roundly condemn the organisation as a bad employer, or a bad manager or maybe they would just decide they were incompetent. They would not look at the extra breaks they took, the unmade or un answered calls, the “duvet days”, the sharpness of tongue used with one customer, who told a friend, who told a friend etc, the opportunities that were presented to them to make a difference that they did not take, the goods they did not check which had to be paid for, the goods they took because they thought someone had made a mistake in ordering. All these would become the faults and opportunities that should have been controlled or taken by the people who started the organisation. The people who started the organisation will have worked hours that can kill, they will have lost sleep over mounting bills, they will have gone grey from worrying about how to get people to be the best they can be because they know that if there people can be that they will not have to worry. They will have worked out over many hours how much is the maximum they can pay to get a job done. They will have done all this in the full knowledge that those who come seeking employment will expect to be rewarded for skills they profess to have but do not like to use, that they will get a task completed and not look for more to do, they will need to be mollycoddled and spoon fed work, they will come to work and put in just enough and expect to get a pay rise regularly. At the end of the day the employer will have done all this because they expect to be rewarded, of course, but they understand that the greatest reward is not the money, which may well be more than those employed get, but in the satisfaction of knowing the obstacles that have been overcome and the short term compromises made to achieve something that has changed their and other peoples lives. When a business is struggling do not say “Let the management sort it out” say instead “Is there any small thing, even if I am not very good at it, that I can do to improve the situation” If the organisation still fails you can walk away with your head held high and say “I made a difference, I alone could not make enough difference, but, I did put in the maximum I could offer” more

Resolved Question: Why do they let some people in to Australia who have little to give the economy....?

....when I have so much to offer but can't get a visa? I worked my way up through a company and ended up running the place but have no formal management qualifications and the business doesn't come under the required skills criteria. I therefore can't get a visa. I will try my hand at anything and believe I have a great deal to offer - they want nurses? Let me in and I will re-train as a nurse. They want teachers? Let me in and I will re-train as a teacher. I am so bloody frustrated when others get let into Australia, get cheap housing and mortgages and offer little or nothing to the economy.I am too old to re train in the uk as you have to be under 45 years old to apply for a skilled visa. I am currently 40 and if I got on some sort of training course next year it would mean I wouldn't finish a degree till I was past the age limit. I spend as much time as I can out in Oz and just find it increasingly difficult to get on that plane back to the UK each time. more

Resolved Question: HELP business partnership is a joke! she behaves like a bad employee?

does anyone have any advise, my business partner has never done any of the business management, she is basically a glorified cleaner (we run a cleaning biz), i do all the office work, recruitment, payroll, new customers booking in, staff rotas and everything in between as well as do some of the cleaning myself, i find it a constant struggle with no help. She has the attitude that cos i work from my office at home when she is out cleaning properties with our staff or on her own, that i laze about all day doing nothing. i find this a massive insult as it is me keeping everything ticking over! she constantly turns up late, or not at all for jobs, is rather nasty about some cleaners (the ones she sponges lifts from and who help her out) and im receiving more complaints about her work and attitude than ever. She really has no people skills and at every opportunity slates our customers. I have really had enough, all she is interested in is her money at the end of the month. what would you do more
