Open Question: Republicans, if I was running for public office would you consider voting for me?

I am a democrat, but a moderate, not a liberal. Below are issues where i either partially or fully agree with the republicans. Gun Control: While I believe that guns should be kept out of the hands of dangerous criminals, I support the second amendment. Defend your home, go out and hunt, just be safe. I believe it is unnecessarily to tax guns and ammunition on top of the already existing state sales tax. Abortion: More pro life than pro choice. I do not believe that it should be outlawed fully, but believe that after the first few weeks, it should be outlawed due to the fact that the fetus is now conscious and feels the pain of the abortion. At this stage, it should be done only to save the life of the mother. Also, abortion should not be a free service, it should be a service you pay for, unless it is a case of rape, incest, or if the mother would die in child birth. This eliminates abortion as birth control and creates revenue for the government. Affirmative action: Harmful to true equality. Obama is wrong to support it. Military: Raise the salaries of our heroes and increase funding to troops in Afghanistan. Catching Bin Laden is a top priority. This is something I praise Obama for doing. Economy/stimulus money: Should be going specifically to education, tax cuts, pay raises for military personal, and public works projects for green energy jobs. Taxes: I will not now, nor will I ever support trickle down economics, Reaganomics etc. However, I would lower taxes on the wealthy. With trickle down, the working class cannot invest in themselves because they pick up the burden of the top five percent not paying taxes. However, if the rich are taxed at the high rate they are now, it is difficult for these companies to reinvest in new jobs. There can be a balance here. The wealthy would pay on no more than five percent of their income, and by wealthy I mean those making 150'000 plus a year. I would give tax credits to small businesses who offer health benefits to employees, and per employee hired. A low tax rate, combined with cutting wasteful spending will fund the stimulus money and may lead to a budget surplus. Immigration: If they get a visa, work for equal wages in the competitive market, they are welcome in my book. This is the land of opportunity. But, if they hop the fence and take American jobs for half pay, immediate deportation. No amnesty, and increase border patrol funding. An immigrant should not be eligible for workers compensation if they are not legal residents. I consider myself a moderate, blue dog democrat. A JFK democrat and Teddy Roosevelt progressive. I voted for Obama and generally approve of him, but do think there are some things he has done wrong. I can't see myself voting against him in 2012. Again, I am a democrat, just not a liberal. I voted for Bill Richardson in the NH primary. Above are the issues where I either partially or fully agree with the republicans. I support the democrats on all other issues, such as Iraq withdrawal, same sex marriage, health care reform, stem cell research, anti-torture, medicaid and medicare, and welfare (as long as it is temporary for laid off workers and not a way of life)Resistance, sorry, forgot your energy question. I support Nuclear energy, wind energy, solar energy and clean coal.Resistance: I support free trade with free countries. Communist countries, such as China, Cuba, North Korea, etc should not be dealt with. However, companies that ship jobs overseas would not be eligible for tax cuts. As far as the drug war, all illegal drugs would stay illegal, except for medical Marijuana. more

Open Question: Where can I buy second Hand PS2 games in England?

I'm looking for a very old PS2 game called .Hack//mutation I have checked the following websites: www.ebay.co.uk www.Play.com In the past I have seen this game on sale for around £12-15. However right now I cannot seem to find it for this price, baring in mind that when I saw it for £12-15 was only 6 months ago so the price would not have increased due to a time gap. Although I do know that with ebay I can bid. I am not good at bidding and lose when I do bid, even when keeping a close eye on the product. I was wondering if anyone knew a place where I could find good quality second hand PS2 games for a reasonable price and a reliably delivery service? Thank you for reading. more

Resolved Question: All of my poet friends: read my story about a significant time of my life..?

I wasn’t in here to make any friends. I was certainly not in here to make any friends who probably stole cars, used drugs, and who knows what else. I wanted to do my time and be out as quick as possible. I just wanted to get my time over with so I could return home and apologize to my dad. I wanted to tell him how sorry I was. “That’s cool, that’s cool,” the boy said with his deep raspy voice. “My name is Jamal, Jamal Walker, but you can just call me Jamie.” He stuck out his hand which I shook reluctantly. “So, what did you do to get yourself locked up in here?” said Jamie as he cut his pancakes and poured strawberry syrup over the top. “I mean, you seem like the innocent type.” “I bit my dad,” I said and took another sip of milk. “At least that is what he told the police.” “Yeah, I feel you.” said Jamie. “Man, parents can tell the cops anything and they will believe it.” “Yeah,” I said. “They only believe what they want to believe and when you try to tell your side of the story they just ignore you.” There was an awkward pause as I put my tray down on the ground and looked nervously about the room. “I’m innocent, I don’t belong here.” I said. Jamie chuckled to himself and said, “Yeah...that is what everybody says. I bet you each and every one of these juvies in here thinks of himself as innocent and that he shouldn’t be here.” “Yeah.” I said and stared down at my barely touched plate of pancakes and applesauce. “Aren’t you hungry, man?” said Jamie when he looked at my unfinished plate of food. “No,” I said. “Nervous?” asked Jamie said as he finished his pancakes and put his tray food on his bed. “Yeah.” I said and looked down at the ground. “Hey, man,” Jamie said. “It is ok to be nervous. I remember my first time here. I was transferred her from Girls Camp because I hit a guard and two supervisor.” “But you’re a boy!” I exclaimed, surprised. “Nah, man, girl’s camp isn’t literally, girl’s camp.” Said Jamie and he gave a hearty laugh. “We just call it that because of the fact that it was once an all-girl’s juvenile detention center.” “Oh.” I said. “So then, what did you do to get locked up at Girl’s Camp?” I asked Jamie. “I was part of a gang. I used to sale drugs near this small church in my neighborhood.” “Why did you sale drugs, for the money, or what?” I asked, very much curious now. “Mostly, I did it to support my two kids. I had a baby by two different women. One lives in Pennsylvania and the other here in Sacramento.” “I was caught,” continued Jamie. “And I was brought to Girl’s Camp. There I got in a fight with one of the supervisors over some nonsense and then was relocated to here. I was supposed to only be in there for three months.” I had been listening intently. His story gripped me in every way. He must have done something pretty bad to have to be in there for three months! I am in here one day and I am ready to crack. “So,” I asked and got up to make my bed. “How long are you in here for? Did the judge tell you?” “No,” said Jamie as he was putting the sheets on his bed. “My next hearing is this Tuesday before my second class.” “What?” I said half-surprised. “Class for what? They actually have classes here?” “Yeah, of course,” said Jamie as he pulled the covers over his bed and laid the pillow neatly on the end. He sat down upon his made bed and rubbed his hands. “What classes do they have?” I asked curious. “Well, they only have classes throughout the week. Today’s Saturday so they do not have any classes.” “However,” continued Jamie, “When they do they have P.E. or gym, English, Math, History and Art. P.E. has to be my favorite class. We can play dodge ball, and basketball. Do you hoop?” “Yeah, of course.” I said thinking about my friends when we played together. “Are you any good?” said Jamie with a slight grin plastered across his face. “A little,” I said saying the opposite of what I really felt. I was locked up in Juvenile Hall when I was sixteen, due to depression causing a lot of chaos, and parents and fighting just a lot of bad stuff. I hope you like it. I wrote an entire book about my experience and I actually gave a copy to the juvenile hall I went to so that others wont feel so alone. I had become close friends with the supervisor there who was in charge of the extracurricular activities and reading and poetry times.=] more

Voting Question: Worth buying PS3 for $300 (AUS) ?

Resolved Question: Where is the best place to sell second-hand books?

I have a large collection of Dean Koontz, Stephen King and John Grisham that I want to sell. I tried car-boot sale but nobody even looked at the books. They are all in perfect condition, as I don't like to bend the spine when I'm reading, or dog-ear the corners. They are just gathering dust though, and we're short on space, so they need to be got rid of. I want approximately £2 for each book, as they are still selling for £7 upwards in the shops. Is there a website that you can recommend, or a book shop in the Northamptonshire area? Thanks. more

Resolved Question: read my story? (advise me)?

The Neighbors Anna looked out the car window at the dreary weather that they had driven closer too with each passing mile. The car rolled passed the sign that introduced them to the town of Ivory. She had heard a lot of good things about it from her father, but what else was he going to tell her about her future home? Her dad had decided to pack up and move when he found a shop that was for sale. His dream had always been to open up his own shop and start selling his knick knacks that he had been collecting for practically forever. Anna turned her gaze from the view outside to her brother Nick, who happened to be propped against the window to her left, and sleeping. Ana punched him in the arm and told him to wake up. “What do you want” he asked with a slight yawn. “We’re almost there” she told him. “That’s nice.” “Why do you always have to be such an asshole?” she yelled, and hit him again. “We haven’t even been in the town for two minutes and you guys are already fighting. Lord help me.” Her father laughed. They rolled down the street for a few more seconds then her dad pulled into a tiny shopping center. He slowed the car down and parked in one of the many vacant spaces. They all got out and went to the window of their dad’s new shop. All the shops were in a straight line, with a gas station on the very end. Their dad led them to the vacant shop, that he would soon be devoting all his time to. “Here it is guys.” Their dad said. He had a sense of pride about him, Anna had not seen this from her dad in long time. “Here what is? It looks like there hasn’t been anything in here for years.” Anna replied, her face pressed against the glass. “Yeah dad, seriously, how much did you say you paid for this place?” “That’s nothing for you to worry about Nick; all businesses have to start somewhere.” His dad said with a smile. “This place has a lot of potential.” Out of nowhere, a hand grasped Anna’s right shoulder, and she screamed. “Whoa there, didn’t mean to startle you, just came over to introduce myself. My name is John, and I own a shop in this plaza.” Anna stood there; still shocked by the way he had addressed himself. When it started to become a little strange, her father stepped forward and introduced himself. “Hello there John, my name is Scott, and I see you’re going to be my competition.” John smirked at him. “Well, I guess you could say that. But people round here don’t care to much for competition” “Which business is yours, Mr…?” Anna interrupted. “Mr. Fulton. John Fulton and I sell all your basic needs. Besides the obvious” he motioned to the gas pumps that were some twenty feet away. “I sell anything from potato chips to dish soap.” At that moment a car pulled up to the pumps, and there was a fairly loud ding, which got everybody’s attention. “Well if you’ll excuse me, I’ve got business to attend to.” He said, then turned and left to tend to his customer. “Nice meeting you.” Scott replied, even though he was well out of earshot. He took one last look at through the shop window, turned to his kids then said “What do you say we go see the new house?” The trip from the shop to the house took less than five minutes by car, and took them to the outskirts of town. Their dad kept straight down a long road. Anna was pretty interested in her new surroundings. She noticed that the further they traveled down this road, the more it seemed to die. At the beginning of the road the houses seemed more modern and newer, but the further you traveled the older they seemed to get. Eventually Scott pulled of the main road and onto lantern drive; first thing Anna saw when they turned was a large yellow sign that read “Dead End ahead”. Lantern drive was a street that had some older houses amongst newer ones, and they blended together quite nicely. She was excited, but at the same time a little scared. After all she had left all of her friends, and some relatives, behind when they left. The thoughts faded as she began to look at the addresses on the houses. 1620, 1622, Anna said in her head. Their new home would be 1632 Lantern Dr. She had remembered it because her father had said it all the time the previous week. 1628… 1630. There it was 1632, the house at the very end of the road, it was a one of the many old ones that the block contained. The house was a fairly simple one. Two stories, white in color and a front yard that at one point in time might’ve been nice, but could now use some work. Their car slowly pulled up the driveway and finally made a stop. Everyone got out of the car and made their way to the house. “It’s a lot bigger than I imagined it would be.” Nick confessed. “Do you guys like it?” their dad asked them both. “I think it could use some work, especially this yard. It’s trashed.” Nick said with a smile. “Ok then wise guy, I’m making it your job to clean up the front yard.” his dad said. “And Anna, you can clean up the inside while I’m straightening up the shop tomorrow. Resolved Question: Are the Jokes Funny (Part 2)?

Alice Grayson was to bake a cake for the Baptist Church ladies' group bake sale in Tuscaloosa, but she forgot to do it until the last minute. She remembered it the morning of the bake sale and after rummaging through cabinets she found an angel food cake mix and quickly made it while drying her hair and dressing and helping her son Bryan pack up for Scout camp. But when Alice took the cake from the oven, the center had dropped flat and the cake was horribly disfigured. She said, "Oh dear, there's no time to bake another cake." This cake was so important to Alice because she did so want to fit in at her new church, and in her new community of new friends. So, being inventive, she looked around the house for something to build up the center of the cake. Alice found it in the bathroom -- a roll of toilet paper & newspaper. She plunked it in and then covered it with icing. Not only did the finished product look beautiful, it looked perfect! Before she left the house to drop the cake by the church and head for work, Alice woke her daughter Amanda and gave her some money and specific instructions to be at the bake sale the minute it opened at 9:30, and to buy that cake and bring it home. When the daughter arrived at the sale, she found that the attractive perfect cake had already been sold. Amanda grabbed her cell phone and called her Mom. Alice was horrified. She couldn't imagine what had gone wrong. Alice was beside herself. Everyone would know, what would they think? "Oh, my," she wailed! She would be ostracized, talked about, ridiculed. All night Alice lay awake in bed thinking about people pointing their fingers at her and talking about her behind her back. The next day, Alice promised herself that she would try not to think about the cake and she would attended the fancy luncheon/bridal shower at the home of a friend of a friend and try to have a good time. Alice did not really want to attend because the hostess was a snob who more than once had looked down her nose at the fact that Alice was a single parent and not from the founding families of Tuscaloosa, but having already RSVP 'd she could not think of a believable excuse to stay home. The meal was elegant, the company was definitely upper crust old South. Then, to Alice's horror, the CAKE in question was presented for dessert. Alice felt the blood drain from her body when she saw the cake. She started out of her chair to rush to tell her hostess all about it, but before she could get to her feet, the Mayor's wife said, "What a beautiful cake!" Alice, who was still stunned, sat back in her chair when she heard the hostess (who was a prominent church member) say, "Thank you, I baked it myself." Alice smiled and thought to herself, "GOD is good." ____________________________________________________ It was getting a little crowded in Heaven, so God decided to change the admittance policy. The new law was that in order to get into Heaven, you had to have a really bad day on the day that you died. The policy would go into effect at noon the next day. So, the next day at 12:01 the first person came to the gates of Heaven. The Angel at the gate, remembering the new policy, promptly asked the man, "Before I let you in, I need you to tell me how your day was going when you died." "No problem," the man said. "I came home to my 25th-floor apartment on my lunch hour and caught my wife having an affair. But her lover was nowhere in sight. I immediately began searching for him. My wife was half naked and yelling at me as I searched the entire apartment. Just as I was about to give up, I happened to glance out onto the balcony and noticed that there was a man hanging off the edge by his fingertips! The nerve of that guy!" The man paused to collect his thoughts. "Well, I ran out onto the balcony and stomped on his fingers until he fell to the ground. But wouldn't you know it, he landed in some trees and bushes that broke his fall and he didn't die. This ticked me off even more. In a rage, I went back inside to get the first heavy thing I could get my hands on to throw at him. Oddly enough, the first thing I thought of was the refrigerator. I unplugged it, pushed it out onto the balcony, and tipped it over the side. It plummeted 25 stories and crushed him! The excitement of the moment was so great that I had a heart attack and died almost instantly." The Angel sat back and thought a moment. Technically, the guy did have a bad day. It was a crime of passion. So, the Angel announced, "OK, sir. Welcome to the Kingdom of Heaven," and let him in. A few seconds later the next guy came up. To the Angel's surprise, it was none other than Donald Trump himself. "Mr. Trump, before I can let you in, I need to hear about what your day was like when you died." Trump said, "No problem. But you're not going to believe this. I was on the balcony of my 26th floor apartment doing my daily exercises. I had been under a lot of pressure sso I was really pushing hard to relieve my stress. I guess I got a little carried away, slipped, and accidentally fell over the side! Luckily, I was able to catch myself by the fingertips on the balcony below mine. But all of a sudden this crazy man comes running out of his apartment, starts cussing, and stomps on my fingers. Well, of course I fell. I hit some trees and bushes at the bottom, which broke my fall, so I didn't die right away. As I'm laying there face up on the ground, unable to move and in excruciating pain, I see this guy push his refrigerator of all things off the balcony. It falls the 25 floors and lands on top of me, killing me instantly." The Angel is quietly laughing to himself as Trump finishes his story. "I could get used to this new policy," he thinks to himself. "Very well," the Angel announces. "Welcome to the Kingdom of Heaven," and he lets Trump enter. A few seconds later, Bill Clinton comes up to the gate. The Angel is almost too shocked to speak.Thoughts of assassination and war pour through the Angel's head. Finally he says, "Mr. President, please tell me what it was like the day you died." Clinton says, "OK, picture this. I'm naked, inside a refrigerator..." more

My mom and I are kind of having a debate. She spends a lot of time with her granddaughter. They're very close and it's wonderful that they get to spend that quality time together, but she's very rough on her clothes. There were a couple of times where she spent the weekend with grandma and every single item of clothing came back with major stains on it. She will put a brand new dress on her and then immediately give her a fudgcicle. I don't expect my kid's clothes to be spotless, but it's not that hard to protect their clothing. I have certain clothes that are play clothes (generally yard sale finds that are already stained) and certain ones that are for going out in public. If my kid is going to be playing in sand and dirt, she puts on their play clothes. If she's wearing something nice, I make sure she either takes it off and eats naked or changes clothes before she eats. If we're out and she can't eat naked, I'll give her foods that won't stain (white milk and chicken nuggets instead of grape juice and chocolate). I'm not buying expensive clothes, I mostly shop at Walmart and second hand stores, but still it adds up! Again, I don't expect my kid's clothes to be spotless, but clothes just seem to last a lot longer around me than her! Anyway, what is your view on this? Please be respectful, I love my mom and this is not a huge issue, just a little debate. :-)Oh trust me, I've learned my lesson on packing good clothes to grandmas, but then again, i don't want her running into people and then people think we're hillbillies with no money! But it goes farther than just weekends away, she's at our house all the time and at church and fudgecicles and grape juice seem to sprout of nowhere when she's around :-)You guys must be much better at laundry than I am. I have such a hard time getting the stains out.Why is everyone getting thumbs down? I don't get it. Thanks for all the advice everyone! more

Voting Question: Help me :-(, I don't want to be single anymore...?

Hi everybody, i'm 19 years old this year... and i'm now doing my degree in a local college. So, there's this girl in my college whom mesmerized me and caught my attention when i first saw her, i mean, she's not as pretty as an angel, but i don't know why, she gave me a kind of special feeling whenever i see her. I know this sounds stupid, considering the fact that both of us don't even know each other.. Then, surprisingly, one day, she contacted me to buy second hand books ( i was selling second hand books to new students ). Our interaction lasted for less than a minute :-( After that, i text-ed her to thank her and ask her to keep in touch. She did reply me, but her reply was to ask me to tell her if there's still any second hand book for sale.. Am i having a crush on her? It seems weird to me... I never had this kind of feeling before ( Btw, i never had a girlfriend before.. ) How should i proceed to know her? or it's better for me to forget about it? I am physically unattractive and i'm sure she won't have interest on me that easily.. Gosh... tell me what to do... I just don't want to spend my 20 year old valentine's day alone anymore!!! It's happy to see your friends around you coupled gradually, but in other way, it could be saddening... Thanks for reading :) more

Resolved Question: Do you think we are losing our rights?

With all the gun control (right to bear arms), and some of the bans on public smoking (just a plain right). We are even being regulated on what the students learn in school! Now the tax on junk food. I think they are trying to make us perfect and all the same. People with guns usually have more power, second hand smoke is bad for the people around it, no child left behind thinks we all learn the same (WE DON'T), and taxing junk food will cut sales and therefore "cause us to loose weight." more

Resolved Question: Need Advise on a Second Hand 2007 Ford Explorer XLT?

Hi there, there is a person living on my street with a 2007 Ford Explorer XLT Sport Trac for sale. I've been eyeing it for the past few days. Here is what is included: Power windows & lock, cruise, air (I'm assuming conditioner), in car heater, command start, extend box bar & running boards. The person's asking price is $30k, I was told that it wasn't a reasonable price. Another factor in the price is that I live in an isolated community where the truck probably either had to a) be brought in on sealift or b) be brought in on the plane. I'm thinking that these people are taking advantage of where we live and jacked up the price. I was just wondering in normal circumstances, how much would that truck go for? more

Resolved Question: Please Help! Does This Seem Like A Scam?

First Email: Hello Lily, The car is available. Here is the car info: 14,000 miles on the clock, like new condition, no scratches, no dents, accident-free, clear title. There are no lien or loan on the car and I'm the registered owner with the title in hand. You will receive all the documents, including the title signed over to your name. As you probably noticed, the price is rather low: $6,300. I'm going through a bitter divorce and unfortunately it's forcing me to sell it under market value. The car is located in Charlotte, NC in my garage. A friend of mine is a DAS employee and he can deliver the truck anywhere in the US for a really good price. You will have the car in front of your house in 3 to 7 days, depending on your exact location. You will also have 5 days to inspect the vehicle. If, by any reason, the car is not as described, or if you find any problems with it, I will pay for the returning fees. I'm sure it won't be the case because it's a state of art vehicle inside and out. If you want to reserve the truck for you, I need your details(name,address..). Thomas Collins Fairington Oaks Charlotte, NC 28227 Second Email: Hi again, I have talked to my friend about shipping costs and he got me a really good price at only $400 which I think its fair to split 50/50, so the total cost will be $6,500 and you will have the car in front of your house in 3-4 days. The sale will be managed through eBay under their Vehicle Purchase Protection program since they offer the highest rate of safety and reliability during online transactions. They act as a neutral third party. Look how this works: 1. I will contact eBay and give all the info about this deal. 2. They will email us the forms which are needed for our deal(invoice, payment instructions, buyer's and seller's protection policy) 3. You will send the money to eBay and they will notify me to ship the car to your location. 4. After you will inspect the car and decide to keep it, eBay will forward the funds to me once you have approved them to do so. You will have 5 days to inspect the vehicle. They will hold and insure your money until you will receive and test the car. I need your name and shipping address so I can reserve the car for you and register the transaction with eBay and they will contact you with all the instructions step by step on how to complete the transaction . Best Regards, more

Resolved Question: Hi, can I have some advice on this please?

Hi, a few months ago my parents bought a house. There turned out to be a lot of problems with it (from basement flooding they weren't told about, to poor plumbing, etc.). They have now decided to sell it. Several weeks ago, I took a shower in their second bathroom. The ceiling is less than a foot above my head, and when a piece of hair got stuck to it and I went to pull it off, I found that there's some kind of an electrial charge there. I presume it's coming from the air vent, even though the air vent was not turned on. I told them about it weeks ago, they did nothing (and I still have to shower there). My father said that he looked at it, and there's nothing wrong -- apparently I'm "imagining" it. But last night, putting my arm up to shave, I rested my hand on the wall and my fingertip touched the ceiling by accident -- and there's still some kind of charge there. I mentioned it again and said said they should have it checked out or make buyers aware of it -- legally and morally. I was yelled at for touching the ceiling (which seems silly to me -- if there's an electrical problem in the shower, you'd think they would WANT to know about it) and told that I'm "stupid" for doing that. It was an accident, and I think it's important that they know there's some kind of charge there. They made it pretty clear that if there is a problem, obviously I've still been showerig fine so they're not going to do anything about it -- or tell the buyer. I don't know what to do. This seems really dangerous to me, and I hate to see them sell this house to someone who could get hurt -- or, if worst comes to worst, one of their children could be hurt. Not to mention, if something DOES happen and I am asked if we knew about it, I am NOT lying, and I know that they can get into serious trouble for not disclosing this kind of thing or doing something about it. What should I do? I'm underage, and I tried to ask my grandma to talk to them about it, because they won't listen to me, but they won't listen to her, either. But I can't let someone get hurt because they don't want to make a big deal out of it and risk losing a sale. And I can't tell the buyer myself, because if they found out, they'd kill me. Any suggestions? Sorry it's long. Also, it's definitely not static -- I initially thought it was just static electricity and touched it again, to remove a piece of hair stuck to it, and as long as your fingers are there, the charge is there.Landlord -- it's only when the ceiling is wet. I think it's coming from the air vent, but I'm afraid to touch that to find out.Kim -- I can't have the inspector come out. I'm underage, they'd find out and I'd be in a lot of trouble. more

Resolved Question: Epiphone Les Paul electric guitars?

I need a new guitar as my band has started gigging a lot more recently, I've been playing so far with a (to be honest quite poor) squire strat that I picked up second hand. Unfortunately being a student I'm on a low budget, apparently some of the lower range les pauls made by Gibsons sister company Epiphone are still of extremely high quality. The common ones around on ebay in the £200-£300 range are: Les Paul Standard Plus Top (£290) Les Paul Custom (£300) I would appreciate some more info on good quality budget electrics, suitable for gigging, or verification that I'm on the right track with the epiphone- but I don't want to limit myself and I'm sure there are lots of others out there. I always give a best answer and will especially appreciate your help if you provide some suitable links etc to guitar sales (on ebay or otherwise). Thanks!I forgot to add I play mainly indie music, nothing particularly heavy. more

Resolved Question: It may be stupid, but is it okay to take Cephalexin and DayQuil?

I'm on 10 days of Cephalexin 500mg (twice per day) antibiotics for strep throat, which I have for the second time in like 2 months. Both were officially strep throat because my throat was swabbed and it was tested. On top of that, I have a freaking AWFUL cold. Burning sinuses, watering and red eyes, and I think it's "dripping" from my sinuses onto the back of my throat. Which makes my already hurting throat itch/tingle, and that makes me feel like I constantly have to cough. With strep throat, coughing hurts big time. My throat has been so scratchy that I can barely speak, and I have to be able to speak. I work in Retail sales...I have to interact with people. I try to wash my hands often, use Purell, etc. I work in the busiest airport in the world...so I come in contact with thousands upon thousands of people every day. So...my main question, dumb as it may be...am I okay to take DayQuil regularly with Cephalexin antibiotics? I know they're for two different things, but I just wanted to make sure there aren't any hidden drug interactions somehow. more

Resolved Question: Has anyone had experience with a short sale with two mortgages?

We are first time home buyer and were wondering if anyone is familiar with the short sale process. About a month and a week ago we put an offer on a short sale that had been on the market for over a year. The sellers signed the contract the following day and submitted it to the bank. Our realtor got back to us at the end of the week and said the house was going into foreclosure the following week, but that the bank was going to delay the foreclosure process for 30 days to short sale it. The bank ordered a BPO and assigned us a negotiator, then reassigned us to a second negotiator last week. We just found out yesterday that the house has 2 mortgages on it. The 1st mortgage is with Freddie Mac, and the 2nd mortgage is with Countrywide. Freddie Mac has approved the short sale, but now we are waiting for Countrywide’s approval. Our realtor mentioned that Countrywide had previously approved the short sale, but that it had expired, so they just needed to get an update approval. We are pretty much ready to go, we have our mortgage approved, a rate locked in (expires in mid Jun), and all we need is an inspection after the final approval. What are the chance that this short sale will go through and how much longer could it take at the point? Our realtor is confident that the sale will go through, but we won’t believe that till we see that in black & white and we have keys in hand. more

I want to see Michael Jackson at the O2, I don't really care what date. I missed the initial sale, so now I can only get them from those second hand websites from sellers. The cheapest ones are going for at least £120 (still a bit too much). I don't mind much about seating, just somewhere reasonable- not right at the back. My question is: will tickets get cheaper closer to the date as sellers want to get rid of them? Should I wait? Or will it be a big risk? Thanks in advance. more

Resolved Question: Hand gestures and toning help!?

I need hand gestures my speech. Here is my speech Good morning/afternoon, Ms. Goodenough and fellow classmates. Would you like to know about the truth and the facts behind McDonald's? McDonald's has been spreading in our society today and every few months we hear about how a study has shown that it is bad for us or good for us. What are we to believe? In the speech it will talk about how the company began and it's facts, the positive side on McDonald's, and the negative side on McDonald's.[5] The company began in 1940, with a restaurant opened by Dick and Mac McDonald in San Bernardino, California. It all began when the brothers, Dick and Mac opened a hot dog stand called The Airdrome at the airport in Monrovia, California on 1937. The brothers then moved their stand to San Bernardino, California, where they first opened the first McDonald's restaurant, on U.S., route 66, at 14th and E Street, on May 5, 1940. Milkshake-mixer salesman Ray Kroc becomes fascinated by the McDonald's restaurant during a sales visit. Kroc approached the McDonald brothers, who have already begun franchising, with a proposition to let him franchise McDonald's restaurants outside the company's home base of California and Arizona, with him as the first franchisee. On 1963 Kroc made a children's show on WRC-TV called Bozo the Clown, after the show was canceled they made a new mascot, named Ronald McDonald.[6] Now to the good news. McDonald's has some good things like cheap food, if you buy a meal there it only cost less than 10$ or even 5$. It is worth it because their foods taste good and some of them are healthy like the Grilled chicken wrap with mustard, scrambled eggs, salads with grilled chicken, diet cola, water, juice, apple slices without the caramel dip. McDonald's menu has any kinds of alternatives like the beverages, breakfast, condiments, desserts/snacks, sauces, sandwiches, french fries, and salads. McDonald's do charity work for the children that needs help, they registered charities that help improve the physical and emotional quality of life for children with serious illness, chronic conditions and disabilities, and their families. Their restaurant are good for young kids because it is child friendly, they have toys for the kids to play with, they have the Happy Meal, along with the play land for the kids to enjoy.[5] Lastly, the negative effects. When eating for a month, for example when you eat 3 meals per day, McDonald's can cause your liver to fat liver, makes your cholesterol high like in the 2 hundreds, depression and makes you feel exhausted. In larger effects, McDonald's can cause you to have 2 times the heart disease and heart failure, massive cravings and head aches. McDonald's foods also carries LOTS of trans fat! Did you know that one medium fry has 5 grams of trans fat, that's more than you should even have in a day. [5] You can see that McDonald's can have both positive and negative effects on our health and well-being. The bottom line is that if you eat your meal regularly, you don't have to worry too much. So the next time you eat that second or third meal, think first, whether this will be healthy for you or not? Now at least you know what McDonald's is doing to you and what is not doing to you. Now, here is my question for the honourable judges, audience, teachers, quests, and fellow classmates 'Should people eat at McDonald's?'[5] more

Resolved Question: Story improvement...?

Hi. I have recently written a story. I'm planning to do more, but I need help to correct the beginning bit. Also, if it's bad please just say because I need to know if it is or isn't. Many Thanks. Prologue: Pitch-black. Slowly and without thought, he turned the engine off and grabbed the keys out of the ignition switch. The engine reared to a halt, and then…silence. Pause. He shoved back his long, dark-brown, greasy hair and took one final look in the rear-view mirror. Wow: he was handsome as hell, but she obviously thought otherwise. What was I thinking, allowing her to screw this whole thing up? It was pitch-black, so instead of looking for the door handle, he felt for it. After a few moments of searching, the cold and smooth texture of the handle finally fell into his hand. He clasped his fingers around the handle, and, with one quick pull, the door swung open. As he clambered out of the car, all he could hear were the trees swaying in the gentle breeze. Then, without warning, the car door slammed shut as the winds picked up pace. He could now feel the wind sweeping against his soft cheeks. This place won’t be difficult to find for the others, I hope. The rain started to fall, and as he began to walk forward towards the small bushes, he felt a rain-droplet brush his forehead. He pulled out his mobile phone, and started to write a text message: "It wouldn’t have been that difficult to find. All you had to do was look for the big fucking gaping hole that you dug up, and then you would have found it. Anyway, it’s too late now. It’s gone; you should have found it earlier instead of letting it hide away, never to be found again. Now it can’t be found, and it’s all down to you." He pressed send, and then closed his phone. That should have helped the bitch. For the past minute or so the wind had calmed down, but now it picked up again. The trees swayed more violently as he put his car keys in his pocket. Glowing in dimly in his face, were the lights from the far-away towns and cities. Now, he was walking slowly and quietly towards the cliff-edge. He now stood a mere two inches away from the edge. The cold wind now surged past his face as he stared longingly at the very bottom of the emptiness. And, with one quick glance back over his shoulder at the silver 4x4 Landrover he’d driven there in, he jumped. Chapter 1: Jennifer Sampson took one deep breath then stepped through the big doors to her left. The doors were frosted-glass, and felt smooth against her soft skin. She regretted it the minute she walked in; even Mark was staring at her. Great: sales losses, heavy traffic, her mother ill in hospital, and now this, Jen thought as she walked through into the boardroom meeting where all eyes were trained upon her scruffy suit. ‘I’m so, so sorry I’m late…’ Jen gasped as she fought her way to her black leather-clad chair. She placed her suit jacket carefully on the back of the chair before taking a seat. ‘It’s explainable. My mother...’ ‘I don’t think it is explainable, Jen. Three times… three times consecutively that you’ve been late for meetings. You need a better excuse, and you need to smarten up for once!’ A few seconds pause, and Gale started up. ‘So- how are the sales?’ Jen asked- despite knowing full well that there were severe losses- just to create conversation. It was silent when she walked in, as everybody’s glare followed her to her chair. ‘Well, seen as though you’re responsible for the sales, I think you should shed light on how you’ve managed with them.’ Silence. Jen gulped just quietly enough so Gale couldn’t hear, and attempted to explain to the thirty people sat at the table in front of her, looking impatiently at her for, what Mark had called ‘answers’. ‘Well, let’s put it this way: our profits have seen better months. Our sales have dropped, but statistics show that they are on the rise again, and within no time at all, we will have dusted ourselves down, and we will be selling better than ever. So, any questions?’ A phone began to ring in the background, just about loudly enough so that Jen could hear it. ‘When the hell do we get positives? The company has had only negative figures for the past year. Luckily, we have just about enough cash in the bank to last us one and a half years. But already we’ve had to make severe cutbacks and redundancies, which have rendered our production even slower than before.’ ‘Well as I’ve said, the number of units currently being sold is on the rise and if we can last out a few months longer, we’ll be in a much better position than we were when this whole thing started. All we need is time.’ ‘Yes, but what I’m trying to say is… we don’t have time!' He paused for a second, listening to the still-ringing phone in the background. He raised his voice. 'And would someone please answer the bloody phone!' more

Voting Question: How do I go about this situation? Can they really fire me?

This is the problem, I just found out I was diagnosed with Lupus. Through the past year I have had to see a neurologist every ten weeks, along with my regular care doctor occasionally. Up until the past week they hadn't had a diagnosis until an MRI and a positive a.n.a. blood test. I would always let my manager know TEN weeks in ADVANCE of my appointment to first; ensure I had that time available, and second they had PLENTY of time to work around it. I would never need the whole day off, just an hour or so to go see my doctors. I am an excellent employee, [I work at a bank, (I have been the only teller to remain in balance this whole year and meet regular sales goals)], yet they give me attitude about my appointment coming up on tuesday morning. Though remind you, they have known for almost three months now. They work around an employees school schedule, but they wont work around my appointment schedule; am I missing something here? I haven't told my employer what disease they have diagnosed, I don't need sympathy or to have any less of a work load on me. I do my job very very well. Now I have a "meeting" to discuss my erratic illness, [the fact I have appointments to work around], and I continue to work over time every week for them, and normally I shove off any pain I do experience at work. However, the pain has gotten so extreme that I have had to go to the hospital twice this month so far. I am just wondering can they really fire me tomorrow at this meeting for my lupus? I have also given them letters from my doctor[s] and notes from the hospital excusing me from work, they say (with an attitude) every time I hand them notes that I don't have to prove myself. I do it to protect myself. I have filled my paper work out for the FMLA, but can they really let me go? I have always been dependable, but this flare up has just been horrendous. I am kind of scared because I do need this job, but if they do fire me, is there any advice or any solution and a way around it? I apologize for the length of my question, I just need to make sure I cover every detail of the situation to make sure I get the honest answers. Thanks for your time and listening! :] more

Resolved Question: Keeping a betta in a 10 gallon tank?

I've recently moved my Betta up from the tiny half gallon tank that he was offered on sale with, to a gorgeous 10 gallon tank he'll have all to his own. He loves it so far, but as I'm a novice at keeping aquariums, and haven't had a tank in a number of years, I've got a few questions. First, with only one small fish in a tank this size, how often am I going to have to do partial water changes? I've read on some sites to still do them weekly, and on others to do them monthly. Second, all he's got in there right now for decoration is a terra cotta pot (with the back of it pressed up against the tank so he won't swim through the hole) and a tiny plant that came with the original tank. What decorations would be best for him? I know bettas love to swim through things, but the only decorations I've found are either gaudy or have rough edges that I'm worried he'll catch his gorgeous fins on. Also, as far as adding new plants and decorations go, should I remove him from the tank before I go about adding things? He seemed relatively unbothered by my hands being in the tank when I added his old tank's plant last night (I always make sure my hands are clean and free of any soaps or lotions first, don't worry!), but I don't know if I should leave him in there while adding numerous decorations. Finally, the filter that came with the tank isn't adjustable, but the current seems way too strong for him. I'm leaving it off whenever I'm not around or awake to monitor him, but can anyone offer tips on how to slow the current, short of buying a new filter?Okay, so I set up some new decorations, and followed the fish store's advice to block up the filter with some gravel. The current's much slower now, but I'm still not sure how to tell if it's too strong. He doesn't seem to be stressed or struggling with it, but I just want to know what signs to watch out for in case I do need to adjust things further. more

Resolved Question: what do you think about these jokes?

After a long night of making love the young guy rolled over, was looking around when he noticed a framed picture of another man on a desk in the distance. Naturally, the guy began to worry. 'Is this your husband?' he inquired nervously. 'No, silly,' she replied, snuggling up to him. 'Your boyfriend then?' he asked. 'No, not at all,' she said, nibbling away at his ear. 'Well, who is he then?' demanded the bewildered guy. Calmly, the girl replied, 'That's me before the operation.' - (second one) A guy goes over to his friend's house, rings the bell, and the wife answers. 'Hi, is Santa home?' 'No, he went to the store.' 'Well, you mind if I wait?' 'No, come in.' They sit down and the friend says 'You know Jaspinder, you have the greatest breasts I have ever seen. I'd give you a thousand bucks if I could just see one.' Jaspinder thinks about this for a second and figures what the hell - a thousand bucks. She opens her robe and shows one. He promptly thanks her and throws a thousand bucks on the table. They sit there a while longer and Banta says 'They are so beautiful I've got to see the both of them. I'll give you another thousand bucks if I could just see the both of them together.' Jaspinder thinks about this and thinks what the hell, opens her robe, and gives Banta a nice long look. Banta thanks her, throws another thousand bucks on the table, and then says he can't wait any longer and leaves. A while later Santa arrives home and his wife says 'You know, your weird friend Banta came over. ' Santa thinks about this for a second and says 'Well did he drop off the 2000 bucks he owes me?' (third one) A high society woman from Mumbai decides to have a facelift for her birthday. She spends one lakh rupees and feels pretty good about the results. On her way home she stops at a newsstand to buy a paper. Before leaving, she asks the sales clerk, 'I hope you don't mind my asking, but how old do you think I am?' 'About 32', the clerk replies. 'I'm actually 47,' the woman says happily. A little while later she goes into McDonalds and upon getting her order, asks the counter girl the same question. She replies, 'I'd guess about 29'. The woman replies, 'Nope, I am 47.' Now she is feeling really good about herself. While waiting at the airport, she notices an old man, Santa Singh the same question. He replies, 'I'm 78 and my eyesight is starting to go. Although, when I was young, there was a sure way to tell how old a woman was, but it requires you to let me put my hands up your shirt and feel you. Then I can tell exactly how old you are.' They waited in silence on the empty street until curiosity got the best of the woman and she finally says, 'What the hell, go ahead.' Santa Singh slips both hands up her shirt, under her bra, and begins to feel around. After a couple of minutes she says, 'Okay, Okay, how old am I?' Santa removes his hands and says, 'You are 47.' Stunned the woman says, 'That is amazing. How did you know?' Santa Singh replies, 'I was behind you in line at McDonalds.' more
